Preschool FAQ

Is toilet training required?
No, we believe that children will achieve toilet learning when ready. Our teachers are happy to assist parents when that time comes. In the meantime, children in diapers have that need attended to during school hours.

Do you provide diapers and wipes?
Parents are asked to provide a two week supply of diapers and wipes. Parents are notified by teachers when the supply is low.

How do I find your tuition?
To inquire about tuition, please contact the Preschool Office at 408.357.7417.

At what age do you begin accepting children?
We welcome children ages 18 months to entering kindergarten.

What are your child:teacher ratios?

  • Toddlers 4:1 with a maximum of 8 children
  • 2 year olds 6:1 with a maximum of 12 children
  • 3 year olds 8:1 with a maximum of 16 children
  • PreK 9:1 with a maximum of 18 children

Are snacks and lunches provided?
We provide nutritious mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. Parents are responsible for providing a lunch with no meat or peanut products, per our allergy policy and kashrut (Jewish dietary rules) policy. We offer parents the opportunity to order hot lunches through the JCC's cafe.

Do you have extended care?
Yes, we offer extended care through our Kif Kef program for children enrolled in our preschool. The hours are 7:30am-8:30am and 12:00-6:00pm. For more information, please contact the Preschool Office at 408.357.7417.

What is the application process?
Upon choosing the APJCC Preschool for your child, you will need to submit an application with an application fee and deposit. We begin accepting applications for the upcoming school year during the month of February. Currently enrolled children have first priority. Siblings have second priority. The remainder of the applications will be entered into an enrollment lottery to be drawn on the first business day of March. Families will be notified in mid-March of their placement in a class or on a waiting list. Applications submitted after the February deadline will be placed in classes or the wait list on a first-come, first-serve basis.
