The JCC offers classes, workshops and events for adults of all ages, on a variety of topics from Judaica to fitness to enrichment classes.
We are committed to creating and promoting programs for intellectual enrichment, personal awareness, enhancement of new skills, creative expression, and development of social connections.

AARP Safe Driver Course (ages 50+)
Learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws, and how to deal with aggressive drivers. AARP-sponsored mature driving class on 6/18 and 6/20 meets for at total of 8 hours (4 hours per day). The refresher course on 4/2 (for those who have already taken the class in the past and just need a refresher) meets for a total of 4 hours. Upon completing the class you receive a DMV certificate which may provide a deduction off your auto insurance premium.

Art History: Folk Art and Crafts in America (age 55+)
Join Jan Masters, M.A. Art history, will lead an exploration of folk arts and crafts in America since Colonial times. Material will be presented in documentaries (DVDs) and slide shows followed by lively discussion. No prior experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity!

Tuesdays, come join us for a lively discussion and stimulating conversation, news of the week and stories that touch our lives. Moderators rotate each week. Thursdays, join the conversation, let your voice be heard! Current Affairs facilitator Michelle Hardcastle form West Valley College will moderate this weekly conversation on news and hot topics.

Duplicate Bridge: Open Game
Join us for a social game of duplicate bridge. This a non-sanctioned game with no master points awarded. It is a drop-in game although you do need to have a partner. If you do not have a partner and are interested in joining this group please call bridge director Don Schare or contact Cherie Ravel at the JCC.
Grandpals Shabbat (ages 55+)
Help explore and impart our rich traditions to our APJCC Preschool children. Join us for storytelling, art, songs and Shabbat to connect the generations.

Group Fitness Classes
The JCC offers more than 70 group fitness classes each week. These classes are free for Full Center Members. Social Members pay a $15 day pass fee and non-member pay a $25 day pass fee. Some group fitness classes are especially accessible if you are looking for low-impact exercise, including:
- Light and Easy. This low-impact aerobics class is light on the joints and easy to follow. Simple choreographed movement patterns emphasize a full range of motion. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30-11:30am in Studio A.
- Zumba Basics. This class takes modifies Zumba moves and pace to suit the needs of a mature audience and anyone wanting a slower pace. What stays the same are all the elements Zumba is known for: zesty Latin music, easy-to-follow moves, and an invigorating atmosphere. Every Wednesday from 10:00-11:00am in Studio A.
Other classes that may be of interest include Aqua Fit (a non-impact aerobic workout in the pool, 5 classes per week) and Gentle Yoga (Wednesdays from 6:00-7:15pm and Fridays from 10:30-11:45am).

Jewish Widows/Widowers/Senior Singles (ages 55+)
This group usually meets on the third or fourth Thursday of every month from 1:00-3:00pm. Meetings are open to Jewish singles ages 55+. The group provides diverse activities that enrich, entertain and educate.

Kabbalat Shabbat Lunches (ages 55+)

Mah Jongg: Beginning Mah Jongg
Instructor Sandy Epstein will teach this six week course. You will learn to identify tiles, get familiar with terminology, hands and rules, and complete a Charleston exchange all according the the National Jongg League.

Card tables are available in the JCC’s main lobby for your convenience, on a first-come first-served basis. Activity rooms are also available for Mah Jongg play on Tuesdays 12:30-3:00pm and Wednesdays 12:30-4:00pm; free for JCC members, $5 for non-members. Sunday Brunch with Silicon Valley Holocaust Survivors Association
A bagel brunch is held the second Sunday of the month from 10:30am-1:00pm for survivors and their family. In addition to brunch there is always entertainment and/or an educational program is included. Admission is free, but an optional donation will help defray our costs. Come hear timely and educational speakers on a wide range of topics from health care to travel. Information promoting each lecture will be available in advance of each specific speaker. FREE for members and non-members.
Upcoming talks include:
- Thursday, April 24th, 3:00-5:00pm. Rethinking Retirement with Jovin Jackson. Jovin is a Financial Advisor with SGC. In partnership with West Valley College he teaches a 2 day course twice a year at the JCC called “Rethinking your Retirement” where he give students tools to navigate this new frontier.
In his two hour lecture Jovin will touch on the highlights of this unique and comprehensive course looking at the issues and financial concepts that are important to pre- retirees and retirees. In straightforward language, this course explains financial strategies designed to accomplish objectives such as tax-efficient income planning, lifestyle preservation, inflation protection.
However, money is only one aspect of post-retirement planning. We introduce fun and fulfilling activities such as travel, hobbies, and lifelong learning, to help you make the most of your retirement years.
