The JCC offers classes, workshops and events for adults of all ages, on a variety of topics from Judaica to fitness to enrichment classes.
We are committed to creating and promoting programs for intellectual enrichment, personal awareness, enhancement of new skills, creative expression, and development of social connections.

Art History/Selected Topics (ages 55+)
Each week focuses on a stand-alone topic and is not dependent on prior sessions. This is an ongoing class that is offered in partnership with West Valley College. In our upcoming classes we will continue to explore the development of modern art from 1900 to 2000, with its many stylistic movements and "isms", and the notable and notorious artistic characters.
Summer Semester 7/9-8/13
The Art of Film (age 55+)
Learn about the early decades of cinema, from 1895 to 1940, with the technical innovations and creative genius of such notables as Edison, Pathe and the Lumiere brothers, Guy, deMille, and Lang. Become familiar with the rise of cinema outside the US and Europe too. No prior experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity! Each week focuses on a stand-alone topic and is not dependent on prior sessions. This is an ongoing class that is offered in partnership with West Valley College.
Summer Semester 7/11 -8/15
Adults age 55+ are invited to join us for local organized day trips and periodic trips to casinos.
Senior excursions at the APJCC are made possible, in part, by a generous donation from an anonymous donor.
Contemporary Jewish Museum
Join the APJCC Sr. Trippers for a trip to San Francisco, Thursday, July 24th, 2014 10:00 am-5:00 pm. We'll visit the Contemporary Jewish Museum for a private docent lead tour of their Mah Jongg Exhibit. Registration cost includes: Museum admission, private tour, lunch provided by the famous Wise Sons Deli, R/T deluxe transportation and driver gratuity. $62.50 JCC members $67.50 non-members, Register by June 30th by calling or emailing Cherie Ravel or Fagie Rosen at the numbers listed below.

Join us weekly for a lively discussion and stimulating conversation, news of the week and stories that touch our lives. Moderators rotate each week. We meet Tuesday mornings in the Adult Lounge.
The JCC offers ballroom, hip hop, tap and jazz dance classes for adults.

Duplicate Bridge: Open Game
Join us for a social game of duplicate bridge. This a non-sanctioned game with no master points awarded. It is a drop-in game although you do need to have a partner. If you do not have a partner and are interested in joining this group please contact Cherie Ravel.

Grandpals Shabbat (ages 55+)
Help explore and impart our rich traditions to our APJCC Preschool children. Join us monthly through out the school year for storytelling, art, songs and Shabbat to connect the generations.

Group Fitness Classes
The JCC offers more than 70 group fitness classes each week. These classes are free for Full Center Members. Social Members pay a $15 day pass fee and non-member pay a $25 day pass fee. Some group fitness classes are especially accessible if you are looking for low-impact exercise, including:
- Light and Easy. This low-impact aerobics class is light on the joints and easy to follow. Simple choreographed movement patterns emphasize a full range of motion. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30-11:30am in Studio A.
- Zumba Basics. This class takes modifies Zumba moves and pace to suit the needs of a mature audience and anyone wanting a slower pace. What stays the same are all the elements Zumba is known for: zesty Latin music, easy-to-follow moves, and an invigorating atmosphere. Every Wednesday from 10:00-11:00am in Studio A.
Other classes that may be of interest include Aqua Fit (a non-impact aerobic workout in the pool, 5 classes per week) and Gentle Yoga (Wednesdays from 6:00-7:15pm and Fridays from 10:30-11:45am).

Jewish Widows/Widowers/Senior Singles (ages 55+)
This group meets the third Thursday of every month from 1:00-3:00pm. Meetings are open to Jewish singles ages 55+. The group provides diverse activities that enrich, entertain and educate.

Kabbalat Shabbat Lunches (ages 55+)
A once-a-month get-together on Fridays from 12:00-2:00pm in the APJCC Auditorium. Enjoy a catered hot lunch followed by entertainment. $6 JCC members, $8.50 non-members.

AARP Smart Driver Course
The AARP Smart Driver Course is the nation's first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. Learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and how to deal with aggressive drivers. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a DMV Certificate which may provide a deduction on your auto insurance premiums. AARP offers an 8 hour mature driving course and a 4 hour renewal course ( you must have attended the 8 hour course to qualify for the renewal course) .

Classes are designed to significantly improve word understanding, especially in background noise. Both non-hearing aid users and hearing aid wearers can benefit from the class. Topics include learning to utilize visual, contextual and environmental cues, preserving hearing and optimizing hearing aid performance. This session runs for 8 weeks. Mah Jongg: Intermediate Mah Jongg
Instructor Sandy Epstein will teach this six week course, focusing on the Mah Jongg card and how to play successfully with it. Best strategies for switching hands, how to choose the hands which are most possible with your tiles, how to understand each hand and how it must be played. As always, we will also devote time to improving strategy and helping each student to become a stronger player.
Mah Jongg: Drop-in
Card tables are available in the JC C’s main lobby for your convenience, on a first-come first-served basis. Activity rooms are also available for Mah Jongg play on Tuesdays 12:30-3:00pm and Wednesdays 12:30-4:00 pm; room play is free for JCC members, $5 for non-members. Rethinking Your Retirement
This unique and all-inclusive course focuses on the issues and financial concepts that are important to retirees. In straightforward language, this course explains how to make the most of your savings and investments during retirement. This 2-day class is offered in partnership with West Valley College.

Sunday Brunch with Silicon Valley Holocaust Survivors Association
A bagel brunch is held the second Sunday of the month from 10:30am-1:00pm for survivors and their families. In addition to brunch there is always entertainment and/or an educational program included.
