Kadima is for campers who will be entering 3rd-6th grades in the fall. Information on this page is from summer 2014. Information on summer 2015 will be available in January.

Experience the coolest activities and make this a summer you'll never forget! A typical day at Kadima can include swimming, sports, cooking, art, team building, trips to Vasona Lake Park, slip n’ slides, talent shows, and field trips.

Themed Activities

We have plenty of extraordinary special events each session.  Each Thursday will be a dress-up day, for campers and staff to dress up in wacky costumes to match the weekly theme and celebrate a day of fun-filled activities such as carnival games, challenge activities, water games in the pool, slip n' slides, and more.

We have a different theme each week:

  • Session 1: Oh The Places We'll Go  |  Imaginarium
  • Session 2: American Adventures  |  Where The Wild Things Are
  • Session 3: Fairytale  |  Maccabi Sports
  • Session 4: Israel  |  Island In The Sun

Field Trips

Kadima campers will go on one field trip each week (two field trips each session).  Field trips are also based on the weekly theme and offer campers new experiences away from the regular camp setting.

In addition to weekly field trips, Kadima campers will visit Vasona Lake Park for nature hikes, creek exploration, and scavenger hunts.

The weekly field trip schedule is as follows. All field trips are on Wednesdays.

6/18 Alameda County Fair
6/25 Zeum in San Francisco
7/2 Alum Rock Park
7/9 Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
7/16 Golfland in San Jose
7/23 City Beach
7/30 Tech Museum
8/6 Raging Waters

Each day campers will have the opportunity to experience unique enrichment activities led by our on- staff specialists.  Camp Shalom is proud to offer specialist-led programming in Science and Nature (Teva Time), Arts and Culture, and Sports. Specialists are trained in their field of expertise and offer campers the chance to learn a new skill through experiential, hands-on learning techniques.

DOUBLE the swim time this summer! Campers will swim for one hour each day they are onsite.  Each camper will have certified swim instruction two days a week, and recreational swim 3 days a week. Campers are closely monitored during swim times by camp staff and lifeguards. Certified lifeguards, assigned specifically to Camp Shalom, are on duty at all times and camp staff will be in the pool with campers during both recreation and lesson swim. Safety is our top priority at the pool.
