https://asoft8298.accrisoft.com/svjcc/clientuploads/camp photos/Camp 2011 02.JPG

Sabra is for campers who will be entering 1st or 2nd grade in the fall. Information on this page is from summer 2014. Information on summer 2015 will be available in January.

First and second graders will enjoy making new friends, creating one-of-a-kind art masterpieces, taking nature walks on the Los Gatos Creek Trail, and participating in hands-on learning through interactive play. Enjoy special events, on-campus visits from specialists, and activities inspired by each week’s theme. Learning something NEW is what Sabra is all about.

Themed Activities

We have plenty of extraordinary special events each session. Each Thursday will be a dress-up day, for campers and staff to dress up in wacky costumes to match the weekly theme and celebrate a day of fun-filled activities such as bounce houses, water games in the pool, slip n' slides and more.

We have a different theme each week:

  • Session 1: Oh The Places We'll Go  |  Imaginarium
  • Session 2: American Adventures  |  Where The Wild Things Are
  • Session 3: Fairytale  |  Maccabi Sports
  • Session 4: Israel  |  Island In The Sun

Field Trips

Sabra Campers will go on one field trip each session.  Field trips are based on the weekly theme and offer  campers new experiences away from the regular camp setting.

The field trip schedule is as follows. All field trips are on Wednesdays.

6/18 Alameda County Fair
7/2 Alum Rock Park
7/16 Golfland in San Jose
7/30 Tech Museum

Enrichment

Each day campers will have the opportunity to experience unique enrichment activities led by our on- staff specialists. Camp Shalom is proud to offer specialist-led programming in Science and Nature (Teva Time), Arts and Culture, and Sports. Specialists are trained in their field of expertise and offer campers the chance to learn a new skill through experiential, hands-on learning techniques.

Swimming

DOUBLE the swim time this summer! Campers will swim for one hour each day they are onsite.  Each camper will have certified swim instruction two days a week, and recreational swim 3 days a week. Campers are closely monitored during swim times by camp staff and lifeguards. Certified lifeguards, assigned specifically to Camp Shalom, are on duty at all times and camp staff will be in the pool with campers during both recreation and lesson swim. Safety is our top priority at the pool.
