Early Childhood

We offer many wonderful opportunities for children (birth to kindergarten) and their families to form connections and friendships. Our fabulous preschool offers extended care and a variety of enrichment classes. All programs are designed with the development of the whole child and family in mind and many include parent participation. In addition to the classes listed on this page, we offer the APJCC Preschool, Camp Katan, and Birthday Parties.

Sports

Group swim lessons at the JCC follow the Bubbles and Mastering Form teaching methods and curriculum. Our outdoor pool is kept at 82 degrees year-round. For schedule and more information, see the Aquatics web page or contact the Aquatics Office at aquatics@svjcc.org or 408.357.7423.

Polar Bear Swim Lessons (ages 3-5)
Rain drops keep fallin’ on my head but that doesn’t mean that swimming has to end! Our outdoor pool is kept at a warm 82 degrees year round. These group lessons run twice a week. More info: 357.7423 or aquatics@svjcc.org.

Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons (all ages) Need some one-on-one attention to help you reach your aquatic goals? These lessons are set up at your convenience and are held year round. Pricing is based on the student's membership status. To get started fill out an Interest Form, which can be found at the Service Desk or Aquatics Office. Preschool Peewees Tennis (ages 3-6)
Learn tennis on mini-courts using small racquets and soft balls. Fun games and drills are used to develop gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination. For more information, contact Coach KV Ganesh at kv@svjcc.org or 408.357.7495.

Students can make up missed classes within the session but cannot carry them over to the next session. No prorating unless approved by the Tennis Director.

Indoor Soccer Lessons

Parent/Child Multi-Sports Classes (ages 18 months-4 years, with adult) Try a variety of indoor sports such as basketball, floor hockey, bowling, scooter play, balance beams, etc. Develop gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and socialization skills. The last 15 minutes of class will be devoted to a Fitness Challenge & Storytime. This class requires parent or caregiver participatino. Please wear comforatble athletic clothing and gym shoes (no black soled shoes allowed). Class is taught by Mike Allen Sports. Mini Sports
Introduce your little one to the world of sports. They are never too young to play! Here they can learn the fun and excitement of soccer, basketball, football, and baseball! Please contact David at david@svjcc.org for availability.

APJCC Dance Academy
Through the art of dance, you’ll acquire grace, style, etiquette, health and discipline that will last a lifetime. Enrichment Classes

Edible Art (Ages 4-5)
Put on your chef’s hat and your artist’s smock and create works of art that are also edible. Join us for creative arts and cooking.

Dino Days (Ages 3.5-5)
Get ready for a prehistoric good time in this class that mixes science with art and fantasy. Learn some fun facts about dinosaurs and let your creative side go wild. Instructor: Angela Williams

Art Explorations Level I (ages 4 and up)
Join Giselle as we explore the fun world of art. This is a great way for your child to have fun while you work out! Reservations required, normal Childcare fees and policies apply. NEW Art Explorations Level II (ages 6 and up)

NEW Little Hands Art Explorations (16mos-4years)

Parent-Child Classes

Music Together (birth to 4 years, with an adult)

Bring your child on a musical journey with a Jewish twist through movement, games, and songs in a class based on the Music Together program. Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them. Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Classes include weekly, 45-minute classes of songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability. Each family will receive a Songbook and 2-CD's. Adult must accompany child.

Parent Education

Raising Parents Open Forum

These parenting skills workshops are facilitated by local experts, with plenty of time for parents to learn from each other. Co-sponsored by the JCC, Yavneh Day School, and Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley. The workshops are free, and you don’t have to be a JCC member to participate.
