Enrichment Classes
JCC Maccabi Games and JCC Maccabi ArtsFest: Summer 2013
Jewish teens ages 13-16 can travel to Orange County with the APJCC for this international competition August 4th-9th. Deadline to register is March 30th.
The JCC Maccabi Games are an athletic competition and the JCC Maccabi ArtsFest is for budding visual and performing artists. All teens also take part in a day of Caring & Sharing, experience home hospitality, and visit major tourist sites. Summer Teen Internship (teens entering 11th or 12th grade in the fall)
Are you looking for job experience, something to put on your resume? The JCC’s teen department is looking for summer teen interns to work from June-August. Interns will be responsible for developing potential programs for the fall, organizing summer teen events, and creating marketing material. These positions are unpaid but provide valuable community service hours that can be used for school. Days and times will be determined with individuals after they have been accepted.

Jewish Teen Philanthropy Board (grades 8-12)
The Jewish Teen Philanthropy Board gives teens the opportunity to decide how to allocate funds to local Jewish organization all while learning about grant making and earning community service hours for school. Learn about the role of donors and grant-makers, learn to write a grant application, solicit grants, run your own foundation, meet with grant recipients to assess progress, develop relationships with donors, earn community service hours, and more! Southern California College Tour (grades 10-12)
April 14th-18th, 2013 -- Registration deadline March 1st, 2013
Visit USC, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, San Diego State University, and Claremont McKenna. See the campuses, talk to current students, visit the local Hillels, and see some of the surrounding sites. This program requires a minimum of 15 participants and signups are due no later than March 1st, 2103. Cost is $900 for Full Center Members and Social Members, and $1050 for non-members.

Community Service (grades 6-12)
Do you want to help out in your community? Do you need community service hours for school? Either way the JCC has a way for you to get involved in your community. Need community service hours for school? Come to the JCC’s Teen Lounge where you can help wrap utensils for the Emergency Housing Consortium, make greeting cards for the needy, and much more. Middle School Planning Board (grades 6-8)
Are you interested in planning events for yourself and other middle schoolers? Do you need community service hours for school? Join the JCC’s Middle School Planning Board. We’ll meet once a month to plan events for middle school students including dances, social events, and more. Board members will receive community service hours for school for their participation. Tuesday Teen Movies (grades 6-12)
Every Tuesday. Want to see the latest Hollywood movies? Don't want to pay $12 to see them? Head over to Cinelux Theaters at 2501 S. Winchester Blvd. where every Tuesday is Teen Tuesday and movies are only $4.50! Plus bring your movie stub to the JCC Teen Lounge and be entered to win monthly drawing for movie tickets, gift certificates, and more! Dance Classes (ages 13-18)
The APJCC Dance Academy offers classes in a variety of dance styles for all ages, from toddlers through adults. New this year is our competitive team "ImagineNation Conservatory." Teen classes this spring include Ballet on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30pm, and Ballet on Saturdays from 12:30-1:30pm. Classes run through May and you can start anytime. Cost for each class is $65/month for Full Center Members and Social Members, and $68/month for non-members. Sports and Fitness
Junior Tennis Clinic (ages 6-18)
This program teaches basic skills to the beginner and intermediate player who looks towards advanced and competitive tennis. Players learn the rules of the game, singles and doubles match strategies, and also play out points as in real matches. Junior Competitive Tennis (ages 8-18)
This Tournament Training Program is conducted by the renowned Niru's Tennis Academy and is for intermediate and advanced players who aspire to or are already playing in tournaments, varsity, or USTA competition. Private Tennis Lessons
Private lessons with a JCC tennis coach will help you perform at your highest level. Some of the areas we specialize in are stroke correction, stroke development, mental toughness, point construction, strategy, on and off-court fitness, understanding an opponent's weaknesses and understanding your own potential. Youth Fitness Program (ages 10 and up)
Youths ages 10 and up can learn to use the Fitness Center in a safe and effective manner through this 5 session program. (For children 10-12, this program is REQUIRED in order to be admitted to the Fitness Center.) During the first four sessions, your child will learn about different components of exercise including flexibility, cardiovascular, strength training, balance and core training, and safe use of the equipment. During the 5th, individually scheduled session, they will be taken through a practical examination with the instructor. Dates and times are based on participant request and instructor availability. Rates are CM $200, SM/NM $250 per child for groups of two or more. Private instruction is $235 per child for Full Center Members. More info: erinm@svjcc.org.
Individualized Corrective Exercise Programs & Postural Alignment Therapy (all ages)
Do you want to exercise but suffer from lower back pain, knee pain, neck pain, shoulder issues, foot symptoms, hip issues, or just overall bad posture? A certified Postural Alignment Specialist (with Egoscue University) will conduct a corrective exercise session that will include the following: Postural photos (with gravity lines inserted using the Egoscue E-Pete software) to indicate which of your load bearing joints may be out of alignment, full gait analysis and functional testing, a customized menu of corrective based exercises created in a specific sequence to get your body back to its optimal alignment, a digital copy of each exercise with pictures, and detailed descriptions as well as videos of each exercise emailed to your home. Pilates for Teens
The Pilates Method of body conditioning is a fun and challenging workout. On the Pilates Reformer each student will learn exercises that develop core strength. Each set of reps will focus on the center of the body utilizing the principles of the Pilates method: center, concentration, control, precision, alignment, and breath. Stretch (ages 13+)
The JCC has a table in fitness room just for stretching. You can book a 20 or 30 minute session with a massage therapist who will stretch you out after an invigorating workout, if you are feeling tight but don’t have time for a regular massage, or just want to leave the JCC feeling relaxed and de-stressed. ViPRow (ages 13+)
Mix two intense 30 minute workouts into one hour of fun! Start with 30 minutes of rowing and complete your workout with 30 minutes of ViPR conditioning. This is a great way to combine cardio and strength training. Dates, prices and more info: lindat@svjcc.org.

Outdoor Boot Camp (ages 13+)
This small group personal training program is designed to increase flexibility, core strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness, absolute strength, overall body functionality, and get you some fresh air! JCC Narwhal Swim Teams (ages 5-18)
These non-competitive, year-round swim teams teach and train all levels of swimmers, targeting individual progress, team unity and family participation. Practices will vary the focus on technique, endurance, speed, dry–land and wet-land training. Optional swim clinics and meets will be offered as we are a part of the JCC Summer Swim League. Private Water Polo Lessons
(ages 10 to 17)
Have you always wanted to learn how to play water polo? Getting ready to join the water polo team in high school? These lessons are scheduled at your convenience and are held year-round. Masters Swimming (ages 15 to adult)
Masters Swimming is a drop-in program for adults. This program meets every weekday and provides a structured workout in the pool. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification: Full Course (ages 15+)

BBYO
BBYO (6th-12th grades)
The B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) is a teen movement whose goal is to involve Jewish teens in meaningful Jewish experiences. For more than 80 years, BBYO has provided exceptional identity enrichment and leadership development experiences for hundreds of thousands of Jewish teens. BBYO has chapters nationwide, with over 1,000 teens participating in the Bay Area. The South Bay chapter is headquartered at the Addison-Penzak JCC. Israel Scouts (Tzofim)
Israel Scouts (Tzofim) (ages 10-18) A youth movement for Hebrew-speaking youth. Tzofim offers an opportunity for teenagers to participate in unique Israel-related programs, with weekly activities in Hebrew for ages 10-18. Children with Special Needs (ages 6-18 years)
Recreation for Children with Special Needs: Fun & Fitness with Friends (ages 6-12 years ) and Teen Fun and Fitness with Friends (ages 13-18 years)
Fun & Fitness with Friends is a social and recreation program that provides a supportive, structured, and nurturing environment to develop new skills and make friends. Children and Teens have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including: sports, swimming, arts & crafts, cooking, dance/movement, and more. Each child is paired with a trained volunteer who assists them and provides one-on-one attention throughout the program. Fun and Fitness with Friends offers two separate programs, each geared towards the needs of different age groups.
Youth Fun and Fitness with Friends is for children ages 6 to 12. Youth FFF is located solely on site at the JCC, and it offers physical, social and creative programming.
Teen Fun and Fitness with Friends is for ages 13 to 18. In addition to offering creative, social and physical offerings, teens will engage the community by participating in field trips to various, near-by, locations.
