Beginning Gymnastics and Tumbling (ages 5-12)

Children will receive an excellent foundation in tumbling, acrobatics, and gymnastics that will prepare them for higher levels in competitive all-around gymnastics and performance acrobatics, concentrating on skills for floor, vault, beam and partner skills. The JCC is proud to have Michelle Bento-Jackson, former Santa Clara University women’s basketball coach from 2002-2008, teaching private and semi-private basketball lessons for boys and girls. No class 9/9, 9/18, 11/25-26. Students can make up missed classes within the session and cannot carry them over to the next session. There is no prorating unless approved by the Tennis Director.

Have fun while learning the techniques and team tactics needed to build self-confidence and experience success. Soccer league play is available at the JCC through Pacific Soccer Academy, which uses the "Pause, Learn, Play" methodology where play is paused when needed to reinforce a skill or theme, and then resumed to ensure good soccer habits are learned. Cost of the program includes a pre-season tournament, uniform, team photo, and award for each player, as well as a great soccer experience. Looking for fitness training for your 8-12 year old? This class is for you! Kids will do cardio, speed, agility, and strength drills with a certified personal trainer. Do you want your child to work out with you in the Fitness Center? Children ages 10-13 can receive permission to do so, after completing this program and passing a final exam. The course includes three half-hours of group instruction and a one-on-one half hour practical and written exam, with a Certified Personal Trainer specializing in Youth & Teen Fitness. This is both an academic and physical program. Cost for a group class is $79 per child if the child is a Center Member, or $119 if the child is a Social Member or non-member. The JCC offers swim lessons in our heated outdoor pool from May through October. Your child will receive individualized attention in our small classes, which are grouped by age & ability. For details, see the Aquatics web page or contact the Aquatics Office at 408.357.7423.

Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons (all ages)

Does you child need a little one-on-one attention to help reach his or her aquatic goals? These lessons are set up at your convenience and can be held year round. Both Private and Semi-Private lessons progress at the student’s pace. Prices are based on the student’s membership status. If your child loves to swim, then our dedicated coaches can help improve their technique, teach them competitive swimming skills, and teach them to work as a team. Practices are held twice a week and there are optional swim meets throughout the year. We offer two swim teams, one that practices on Mondays and Wednesdays, and one that practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This program is held every month of the year except for December. Fees are per month.

Advanced Swim Team is the next step for your child who is looking to enter the world of competitive swimming. Here they will improve their racing skills, focusing on starts and turns. This program is held every month of the year except December.
Minimum Requirements: 100 IM (25 yards of each stroke Freestyle, Backstroke, Breast stroke and Butterfly). For more information, contact the Aquatics Office at 408.357.7423.

Learn the rules, skills, and strategy for playing Water Polo. Children must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle with side breathing, and 25 yards backstroke. Water Polo is a year-round program. For more information, contact the Aquatics Office at 408.357.7423.

Dance

Experience the joy of dance at the APJCC Dance Academy! We offer classes for ages 2-18 in a variety of dance styles. For preschoolers, we also offer and "Zoo"mba (tumble like an animal!) and "Parent and Me" classes.

Children's dance classes are ongoing from September through May, so students can begin on any date. There are no classes in the summer. The first day of class this fall is September 13th, 2010.

Each class is 45 minutes long.

Fees: Tuition is $65 per class per month. There is also an annual registration fee of $25 per child for JCC members, $75 per child for non-members. Dance Academy t-shirts may be purchased for $5.

Children with Special Needs

Fun & Fitness with Friends (ages 6-12 years)

Fun and Fitness with Friends is a recreation program available to all children with special needs who are ages 6-12. The program provides a supportive, structured and nurturing environment for children with special needs to develop new skills and make new friends.

Children have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including soccer, swimming, arts & crafts, cooking, pet therapy, and more.

Each child is paired with a trained volunteer who assists them and provides one-on-one attention throughout the program.

Birthday Party Packages (grades K-5)

Planning a birthday party for your child and can’t decide what to do? Let the JCC host your child’s party! We offer several party packages that can make your child’s birthday a special, memorable event. All parties are two hours in length and include energetic staff to run games. Beautiful party décor, pizza, cake, and ice cream are available as add-ons as well.

• Bounce Bounce Party : Activities include enormous inflatable slides, fun and challenging obstacle courses, wacky games, art activities, and much more!

Raising Parents Open Forum

These parenting skills workshops are facilitated by local experts, with plenty of time for parents to learn from each other. Co-sponsored by the JCC and Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley.
