APJCC/Klein Competition Concert Series
Amy Schwartz Moretti, violin,

The 2nd Prize winner of the 1997 Irving M. Klein International String Competition, Amy Schwartz Moretti has performed extensively throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster. A committed educator, she is Director of the McDuffie Center for Strings at the Mercer University Townsend School of Music. Joined by acclaimed pianist Orion Weiss, her program features works by Brahms, Dvořák, Robert and Clara Schumann, and Amy Beach. Ms. Moretti performs on the G.B. Guadagnini violin made in Piacenza, Italy (c1744) on loan through the Stradivari Society in Chicago. Admission is $25 for JCC Members, $30 for General Admission. Series price is $60 for JCC Members, $75 for General Admission.

A Bloch Party at the APJCC
Sunday, March 8th, 2015
One of the preeminent Jewish-American composers of the 20th century, Ernest Bloch (1880-1959) frequently explored Jewish subject matter in his orchestral and chamber works.  He was also a Bay Area fixture for many years, serving as director of the San Francisco Conservatory from 1925 to 1930 and teaching composition at UC Berkeley late in his life.
