RitLab (Ritual Laboratory): Purim

Join the Center for Jewish Life and Learning for an art workshop exploring the themes of masks and identity. Guidance freely provided by a teaching artist and a Judaic expert. Express yourself. Mesibah! Family Fun Day: Purim

Mesibah is the Hebrew word for party! Children ages 2-10 years old and their parents or caregivers are invited to join us for a FREE party to celebrate the Jewish holiday Purim! There will be a bounce house, arts and crafts, healthy snacks, and storytime with PJ Library. Elixer of Love for Families/The Movie
Sunday March 11th | 1:00pm Created from San Francisco’s Opera’s production, this one hour film is the perfect way for children to learn about the magic of opera. This whimsical tale of Donizetti’s opera tales place in the beautiful setting of a Napa Valley county fair in 1915 complete with leatherhead football and a Model-T truck! Make your personal Judaica more meaningful by creating it yourself! Join the Center for Jewish Life and Learning for a book-binding workshop. A haggadah is the book used at Passover seders around the world to tell the story of the Exodus out of Egypt. Participants will create a beautiful supplement the Passover haggadah from a variety of art and texts. Express yourself. Free of charge, $5 suggested donation. This workshop will take place at the Hillel House of Hillel Silicon Valley. Inspired by the series at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Chocolate Seder
Sunday, April 1st | 3:00pm-5:00pm
During this fun-filled family seder, we will learn about the Exodus story, sing Passover songs, and, most importantly, eat lots of chocolate! This is one family event that is 100% melt-in-your-mouth delicious! JCC members: $20 per family up to five people, $3 for each additional person. Non-members: $30 per family up to five people, $4 for each additional person. Space is limited; RSVP by Wednesday, March 28th. Geared toward families with elementary and middle school aged children. 2nd Annual Charoset Tasting Contest

Charoset is a special Passover food that symbolizes the mortar that the enslaved Israelites used to build cities for Pharaoh in ancient Egypt. Traditionally made of a mixture of nuts, apples, and wine, every family has their own favorite recipe. Think your charoset is better than last year’s winner Julie Tardos’? Come put it to the test! Enter the APJCC’s second annual Charoset Tasting Contest. Bring a big bowl of your charoset to the JCC lobby. Visitors to the JCC will vote for their favorite. Don’t want to enter the competition? Torah Slam: Cheat on Your Rabbi for a Night

In preparation for the holiday of Shavuot, join Silicon Valley Rabbis for an evening of spirited discussion and debate as they grapple with these difficult questions: What does it mean to be commanded? Why should we obey? Similar to a poetry slam, Rabbis will each present their views on the subject and then respond to each other. Silicon Valley Jewish Music Festival

Join us for an afternoon of live music and entertainment on the JCC athletic field, featuring nationally and regionally known performers. Last year more than 2,000 people of all ages attended this fantastic, fun, inspiring event. People of all backgrounds (Jewish & non-Jewish) are welcome. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. The Silicon Valley Jewish Music Festival was a day of song, dance, and celebration. Children’s musicians The Macaroons and PapaHugs performed in the early part of the day, followed by concerts with musicians Elana Jagoda and Craig Taubman. The day concluded with the first performance in years by the David Grisman & Andy Statman Quartet.
