Experience the special synergy of Restorative Yoga and soothing sounds of Crystalline Singing Bowls.  Yoga Basics Workshop with Beverly Bachoo
Sunday, May  4th 1:00-3:00pm. CM $10, SM/NM $20
A 2-hour workshop outlining the fundamentals of yoga, its benefits and more. Review yogic terms, issues regarding alignment, common yoga poses, safe modifications, and breath work. This is a slow-paced workshop designed to address your concerns and provide you with helpful instruction that enhances your personal practice.

Learning Meditation
The benefits of meditation are many: it calms the mind, improves mental performance, and increases holistic wellbeing. From time to time we schedule group classes that teach different forms of meditation and how to practice them, and removes the mystery of how meditation works.Cost is $35 for Full Center Members, $70 for Social Members and non-members.

Meditation Practices - coming soon!
Explore specific mediation practices designed for you to create a relationship with your feelings during this 3-month series. Practice what you have learned during the week and discuss what you are learning. The class will be taught by Dr. Walt Jessen. Walt has been doing meditation for 20 years from the perspective of cultivating well-being. Class meets once a week for 1.5 hours. Dates TBD. $30 per class CM, $40 per class for SM/NM. Pay for 1, 2, or 3 months at a time.

Private lessons with instructor Sandeep are $100 for a one-hour private session, $70 for a one-hour duet (two person) session.

Prenatal Yoga - Private Sessions
Prepare the mind and body for labor. Learn breathing techniques and helpful positions for labor. We also offer tips on how to modify the poses used in regular yoga classes. Please bring a yoga mat or rent one from the Service Desk. $75 per session for Full Center Members, $85 for Social Members and non-members.

Yoga classes for children are sometimes offered through the JCC's Youth Department. For details, see the Youth Department page or contact Andrew Mendes, the JCC's Youth and Recreation Director, at andrew@svjcc.org or 408.357.7447.

Sacred Shapes: Jewish Yoga - coming soon!
This year-long program will combine yoga and Jewish spirituality. Participants attend a weekly yoga class with yoga poses related to Jewish seasonal themes, and an all-day yoga retreat every 3 months where we will learn yoga poses related to the themes of the Jewish year cycle, study Jewish texts that are relevant for yoga, and engage in meditation. Fee: $150 per year CM, $175 per year SM/NM. This program is funded through a generous grant from the Dorbrecht Foundation. More info: kellyg@svjcc.org

These classes all appear on the Group Fitness Schedule and are complimentary for Full Center Members.

Core Yoga

An active, powerful yoga that flows through many Sun Salutations into various standing and balancing poses. The practice also includes a challenging series of Pilates-based abdominal toners and strengtheners.

Gentle Yoga

Strengthen and relax your body and mind. The selected postures allow you to gain a deeper sense of mental focus, clarity, and relaxation.

Hatha Flow

Combine the principles of Iyengar yoga and the fluidity of Vinyasa at a pace that suits the practitioner. Flow integrates breath and movement, awareness and alignment, and strength and flexibility.

Hatha Yoga

Blend several styles of Yoga into one with an emphasis on core strength, flexibility, balance, concentration and breath control.

Iyengar Yoga

Precise alignment of muscles, bones and joints is the main focus. Rather than moving quickly through the postures, you may spend many minutes in one pose and use props to align your body properly.

Therapeutic Yoga Flow

Inspired by Yoga Tune Up®,this class is designed to tone, stretch, and strengthen the body as well as relieve and heal muscle fibers. Using self massage, props, classical and non-traditional asanas you will leave with a new perspective on your body and your practice.

Vinyasa Yoga

A dynamic system of practicing asanas that focuses on the synchronization of breath and the continuous flow of movement. Build heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and mental focus.

Yin Yoga

A slow paced style of yoga with postures that are held for longer periods of time to allow the body to open.

Yoga Fundamentals

Intended for all student levels, Yoga Fundamentals reinforces a strong and stable foundation on which to build your practice. Each class is devoted to a theme which will help you deepen your practice while challenging your mind and body.

Yoga Fusion

Combination of Yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong movements in an invigorating and strengthening flow.

Yoga Sculpt 

A yoga flow class done with weights.
