Core Release and Restore™ Workshop with Joanne Varni
Sunday, August 24th from 12:00-2:00pm
$45 for Full Center Members/ $55 for Social Members and non-members
Minimum 10 participants to run class
Inspired by the work David Bercelli, Liz Koch, Peter Levine, Tias Little, and Anodea Judith, this workshop focuses on the psoas and iliopsoas muscles combining the ancient practice of yoga with the modern discovery of the neurogenic tremoring (influenced by the TREs) developed by Dr. Bercelli.  The yoga portion of the workshop will focus on natural and gentle healing, targeting the iliopsoas complex including hydrating, releasing, and lengthening these muscles as well as stimulating the health and regulation of parasympathetic nervous system. Elements of the class will include lecture, asana, pranayama, sound, and neurogenic tremors in the body.  Some benefits may include:

Sacred Shapes: Jewish Yoga

This 9-month program combines yoga and Jewish spirituality. Weekly yoga class with yoga poses related to Jewish seasonal themes. Plus, an all-day yoga retreat every 3 months where we will learn yoga poses related to the themes of the Jewish year cycle, study Jewish texts that are relevant for yoga, and engage in meditation and reflection. This program is funded through a generous grant from the Dorbrecht Foundation.

Sun 9/7/14-6/7/15 10:30-11:30am* $150 for the year $175 for the year

* Sunday 9/7, 12/7, 3/8, and 6/7 we will meet from 10:30am-3:30pm for a longer Yoga Retreat session.


Meditation Practices - 3 month series
Explore specific meditation practices designed for you to create a relationship with your feelings. Avoid getting bound up in your feelings. Develop a way for each feeling to have its own life. Explore how we get caught up in our feelings and how to cultivate positive emotions.
Starts June 10th and runs for 3 months. Tuesdays 1:30-3:00pm. Cost: $30 per class. Pay for 1, 2 or 3 months at a time. To register please fill out a program registration form or contact Kelly at kellyg@svjcc.org or 408.357.7418.

Intro to Meditation

Wednesday, September 10th, from 5:00-5:55pm
This complimentary class serves as an introduction to our regular Friday and Sunday meditation classes.

Learning Meditation
The benefits of meditation are many: it calms the mind, improves mental performance, and increases holistic wellbeing. From time to time we schedule group classes that teach different forms of meditation and how to practice them, and removes the mystery of how meditation works.Cost is $35 for Full Center Members, $70 for Social Members and non-members.

Private Meditation Lessons
Private lessons with instructor Sandeep are $100 for a one-hour private session, $70 for a one-hour duet (two person) session.

Prenatal Yoga - Private Sessions
Prepare the mind and body for labor. Learn breathing techniques and helpful positions for labor. We also offer tips on how to modify the poses used in regular yoga classes. Please bring a yoga mat or borrow one from the Service Desk. $75 per session for Full Center Members, $85 for Social Members and non-members.

Kids Yoga

Pilates Mat Introduce yourself to the fundamentals of Pilates technique (without apparatus/equipment). Focus on alignment, opposition, balance and functional fluid movement from the core’s foundation - the powerhouse. Courtesy mats available. 

Pilates + Props  All levels welcome.  Enhance your mat class with the use of props including the magic circle and foam roller accommodating a range of experience and ability.   

Power Pilates Take it to the core with a dynamic challenging progressive Pilates mat workout focusing on your powerhouse (core). Lengthen, strengthen, and transform your body and mind towards your ABSolute potential.



Core Yoga  An active, powerful yoga that flows through many Sun Salutations into various standing and balancing poses. The practice also includes a challenging series of Pilates based abdominal toners and strengtheners

Gentle Yoga Incorporate asanas in a slow, meditative and calm practice. Encouraged for any person with reduced mobility or limitations.  

Hatha Flow  Progress your Yoga practice with connected poses.  This fluid practice is appropriate for all levels, prior Hatha experience encouraged.

Hatha Yoga  The foundation of Yoga.  Learn asanas (poses) and  pranayama (breathing technique).  All levels welcome.  Bring your own mat.  Courtesy mats, blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters offered.

Iyengar Yoga Precise alignment of muscles, bones and joints is the main focus.  Rather than moving quickly through the postures, you may spend many minutes   in one pose and use props to align your body properly.

Restorative Yoga Props (bolsters or blankets) are incorporated to support participants in seated or reclining poses focusing on relaxation, breath and flexibility. Ideal for anyone new to yoga, or working with mobility, recuperation or relaxation concerns.   

Stretching and Flexibility Flexibility, balance & stretching, all in one! Stretch your body from head   to toe, while strengthening your core and improving your concentration and balance. 

Therapeutic Yoga Flow Inspired by Yoga Tune Up®,   this class is designed to tone, stretch, and strengthen the body as well as relieve and heal muscle fibers. Utilizing self massage, props, classical and non-traditional asanas you will leave with a new perspective on your body and your practice!

Vinyasa  Flow A continuous flow of movement with a dynamic system of poses (asanas), building flexibility, strength and the synchronization of breath.  Experience in Hatha is recommended.

Yoga Flow  Combines principles of many different styles of yoga done in a flow. Yoga Flow will create heat and build strength, flexibility and endurance.

Yoga Fundamentals Intended for all student levels, this class creates a strong and stable foundation on which to build your practice. Each class is devoted to a theme that will help you deepen your practice while challenging your mind and body.

Yoga Fusion Combination of Yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong movements in an invigorating and strengthening flow.

Yin / Restorative Yoga Yin yoga targets the deeper, connective tissues with a focus on the joints. Restorative Yoga uses props to encourage a deeper sense of relaxation. This class offers a combination of poses from both disciplines, taking the emphasis off the large muscles groups and focusing on the fascia, through long-held, supported postures.

Yin Yoga Using foundation poses in Hatha and Hatha Flow, Yin focus on holding postures for deep results targeting and opening the fascia and joints. 


Contemplation Meditation Contemplation is a method of improving your meditation practice by understanding the process behind it. We focus on learning the difference between thinking and Analysis. Most of what is taught in school is analysis, thinking is left to the individual. Learn what thinking is, and how to improve it in a format that combines discussion and meditation.

Guided Meditation  Experience calmness, mindfulness, and an improved awareness of your own mind. The class starts with an introduction to meditation followed by breath meditation, guided meditation, and finally silent meditation.
