Tikkun Olam Projects at the JCC
"Tikkun Olam" is a Hebrew phrase that means "repairing the world." The JCC community invites you to join us in the following projects to make the world a better place.
This fall, renew your commitment to our community with three months of social action projects!
September 2008
Campus Work Holiday at the JCC - Sunday, September 7th, 10:00am-noon. Help beautify the JCC grounds! This project is appropriate for all ages, and teens can get community service credit for school. To sign up, contact Jason at jason@svjcc.org or 408.357.7497.
Cell Phone Collection - During the entire month of September, bring your old cell phone or used printer cartridge to the JCC Service Desk for recycling. Proceeds from this recycling project will be divided between the JCC Shabbat Lunch Program, JCC Preschool and Homework Club snack program, the San Jose Strong Neighborhoods Initiative, and the Kiryat Malachi project in Israel.
October 2008
Collaborative Clean-up Project with the San Jose Strong Neighborhoods Initiative - Sunday, October 12th, from 10:00am-noon. Help us clean up Starbird Park at the corner of San Tomas Expressway and Williams Road in Campbell, just north of the JCC. This is a joint project with the San Jose Strong Neighborhoods Initiative. Afterwards, we'll go back to the JCC to eat lunch and decorate the JCC sukkah. To sign up, contact Jason at jason@svjcc.org or 408.357.7497.

Collection to Support Programs at the JCC's Partnership 2000 City of Kiryat Malachi in Israel - The JCC is partnering with the town of Kiryat Malachi in Israel to support social programs there. Stay tuned for details!
