South Bay Teen Idol is an annual competition for teen vocalists in grades 8-12. For details  see the South Bay Teen Idol page.

Teen Lounge
The JCC’s Teen Lounge, featuring games, foosball, pool, air hockey and more fun, is open during the school year Monday-Friday from 3:00-6:00pm. Free for JCC members, including Full Center Members, Social Members, and Teen Members. $5 per day for non-members. Closed on Jewish holidays.

B'nei Brith Youth Organization (BBYO)

The JCC hosts the South Bay BBYO chapter. For information, contact Jill Pottel at jill@svjcc.org or 408.357.7426.

 


Other Programs and Events

Teen Philanthropy Board
The Jewish Teen Philanthropy Board gives teens the opportunity to decide how to allocate funds to local Jewish organizations, while learning about grant making and earning community service hours for school. Teens will collectively develop an area of interest for grant-making and run their own foundation, soliciting grant applications from local Jewish organizations, making grants, meeting with grantees to assess progress, and more. Meeting dates will be based on the availability of the participants.

Teen Lounge Community Service (grades 6-12)
Every Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00pm during the school year 
Need community service hours for school? Come to the JCC’s Teen Lounge where you can help wrap utensils for the Emergency Housing Consortium, make greeting cards for the needy, and much more. Teens can earn up to 3 hours of community service per day. Note that the Teen Lounge is closed on Jewish holidays.

JCC Maccabi Games 2014
The JCC Maccabi Games will take place in Boca Raton, Florida, August 10th-15th.  We'll be sending a delegation of Jewish teens ages 13-16 from Silicon Valley to participate at this international Jewish teen sports competition. Available sports are Boys Baseball, Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Soccer, Boys Flag Football, Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Bowling, Boys and Girls Golf, Boys and Girls Swimming, and Boys and Girls Tennis. All teens also take part in a day of Caring & Sharing, experience home hospitality, and visit major tourist sites. More information, including fees, coming soon. Deadline to register is April 15th, 2014.

The Power of a Girl (grades 6-8)
Sunday, May 4th from 1:00-4:00pm
Middle-school girls are invited to this girl empowerment event organized by girls their own age. Make new friends and learn about the power within yourself. Enjoy carnival style booths, exciting group activities, interesting discussion topics, and snacks and drinks. Free!

Soccer and Futsal
Soccer and futsal at the JCC are run by the PSA Royals, a nationally accredited U.S. Club Soccer Academy that offers soccer lessons for ages 3.5-5 years, an instructional recreational league for ages 4-9 years, and competitive team play for U7-U18. Athletic Conditioning (ages 11+)
Need to step up your game? Looking for an additional workout to add to your regular training regime? Join a group of athletes at your level for a weekly workout that enhances your overall athleticism and includes elements of stability, strength, agility, speed, flexibility, and overall conditioning. Sessions are taught by our Certified Athletic Trainers who have the education (degrees and nationally recognized certifications) and the experience to help you take your body to the next level. Separate classes are available for middle school and high school athletes. More info: erinm@svjcc.org.

Speed Training for Athletes (ages 10+)
Need to get an edge over the competition? These individual sessions incorporate the different dynamics of speed training: explosiveness, power, agility, endurance, stride length, and form. Work with an experienced speed training professional who will tailor your workouts based on your specific running form and individual goals. Specialized Fitness Professional Rates apply.
